

Outdoor sketching is a personal adventure.
Each drawing brings us closer to a better understanding of the world and ourselves.

Urban sketching


Whatever your level , you will progress while having fun, and it is this fun that will encourage you to continue. You will surprise yourself!
I don't promise you a miracle recipe , it doesn't exist.
Once you have the basics down, there are only 3 secrets to moving forward: practice, practice, practice .
What could you
learn in this course?
To sharpen your gaze and observe precisely
You will learn to better read shapes, shadows and lights to quickly decode architecture and capture the energy of scenes from everyday life.
Quick Sketching Techniques
You will practice quick sketching with pencil, pen, or felt-tip pen to capture the essence of a subject while developing your own sensitivity.
To better master perspective and composition
We will cover the basics of perspective and the secrets of composition
which will allow you to give depth and strength to your drawings.
To be colored with watercolors
You will learn simple and effective methods to do
Vibrate your watercolor sketches, with advice on equipment suitable for outdoor outings.
We draw in various locations in Geneva:
The city center, lakeside, old town, markets,
as well as indoors (cafes, museums, covered passages)
depending on the weather.



Practical information
The course is aimed at adults,
beginners, intermediate and advanced.
Sessions last at least 2 hours
A short theoretical introduction
on the theme of the day and we move on
to practical exploration.
Prices:
Groups (3 to 6 people): 40 chf/h
Or private lessons: 60 chf/h
The course will be settled at the end of each session
Cash only for now.
The course is given in French
(for private lessons, my English is limited
but I understand if needed)
Participants bring their own equipment.

the suggested material of the urban sketcher
1. Sketchbook - Watercolor paper:
Fabriano, Hahnemühle or any other brand, the important thing
is to take a paper made for watercolor.
minimum format .13.5 x 21 cm or 21x 21 cm or larger, according to your wishes.
2. Watercolor paper pad:
Hannemühle, Canson or any other brand
300 gr or 325 gr
Format approx. 24 x 32 cm or A4 (21x29.7 cm) or larger, according to your wishes.
3. Watercolor travel set
Small or medium sized box.
Windsor & Newton, Schmincke, Sennelier or any others
brands you love
4. Brushes
2 or 3 sizes, including a larger brush, are generally sufficient.
In travel version or not. The travel brush turns into a
metal cap, the hairs are thus protected.
5. Water spray
Sometimes useful to re-wet an area of the drawing or your cups
of colors in the box
6. Small bottle of water
7. Plastic pot
8. Cloth, handkerchiefs or other
9. Windproof clips
10. Two or three fine liners
(0.1 mm, 0.4, 0.6) indelible black.
Mechanical pencil + HB 0.7 leads
or HB or 2B graphite pencil
according to your preferences
Fountain pen
With indelible ink (waterproof)
or your favorite drawing tool
that it is water resistant
+Pencil sharpener
11. Folding seat
I use a small, lightweight board as a support under the pad or notebook.
Others prefer travel easels or
a small drawing board on his knees.
Try different things to find your preference.
